The Employees Retirement System of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (the “ERS”) is a trust created by Act 447 of May 15, 1951 to provide pension and other benefits to retired employees of the government of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities.

Improved incentives for private charitable donations would strengthen nonprofit organizations that provide a variety of public benefits in Puerto Rico. This study investigates options for stimulating additional charitable giving with enhanced tax incentives.
El lunes 12 de octubre líderes del movimiento sindical puertorriqueño anunciaron su intención de llevar a cabo una demostración masiva en Hato Rey, específicamente al frente de los establecimientos principales de dos grandes empresas puertorriqueñas. Aunque respetamos y apoyamos el ejercicio vigoroso por parte de los trabajadores de los derechos a la libre expresión, a reunirse en asamblea pacifica, y a exigirle al gobierno la reparación de agravios, entendemos, sin embargo, que el lugar escogido para llevar a cabo dicha expresión no es necesariamente el mas lógico.
Current discussions on the impact of expected employment reductions in Puerto Rico’s government have emphasized aggregate macro-economic effects such as the potential contraction in aggregate consumption, and the risk of increased default levels in household debt. However, there has been hardly any focus on the specific social sectors that would bear the brunt of the impact of such dismissals.
